Delay on Imposition of Retaliatory Tariffs Against US Origin Goods
On February 1st, 2025, Canada has implemented a suite of measures to respond to the 25% tariff imposed by the US on most Canadian goods. Since the initial announcement, the following additional information has become available:
The Canadian Government also outlined a remission process for Canadian businesses to request exceptional relief from the tariffs that are imposed as part of Canada’s response to the US applying unjustified tariffs on Canada.

However, Canada and the US agreed to delay the imposition of the respective tariffs on imported goods for at least 30 days pending further bilateral consultations.
The United States Surtax Order (2025) SOR/2025-03 was repealed effective February 3rd, 2025.
